Am I right for you?

Most photographers love what they do and feel blessed to do it.

(I have read that on at least ten photographers’ sites so it must be true.  And apparently everyone was given a Kodak Instamatic when they were about eight years old that fostered their innate love for photography. Weird.)

I have a relaxed style of shooting. I get better photographs if you are having fun and not worrying about posing for the camera or making sure your kids are behaving themselves. You don’t have to smile every time I point the camera at you and you don’t have to act like you’re a perfect family. If you’re the kind of person who loves my style of photography, your love and deep feeling and sense of fun will shine through no matter what you do.

Most parents worry about how their kids will behave. Children are naturals in front of the camera if they can just be themselves. I love children who live life out loud and have a gleam in their eye. The ones you’re not sure what they’re going to do next. And I love the quiet ones too, the ones who like to observe before jumping in, the ones who don’t reveal everything right away. I have one of each in my household and I see the beauty in both.

My sessions are a collaboration. There’s an energy that flows from the client, through the camera, to me and then back again. I get the best results with families or friends who focus their energy on each other and not on me. I will guide you to stand where the light is better and suggest you try some things, but mostly I’m content to follow you around while you do what you do best – be yourself.

We can meet for coffee and go for a hike. Or we can hang out at the beach and then have lunch. Or we can meet at your house and play in the backyard, then walk to the park. It really doesn’t take a lot of planning, and it definitely doesn’t require dressing up.

To decide if I’m right for you, look at my site and get a feel for my work. Check back often. If you are drawn again and again to my images, then you will probably be happy with your own photographs.
