Morning walks

It’s like being under water, fighting for air.
It’s like everyone’s going to the party and you’re not invited.
It’s uncomfortable.
You can’t talk about the process with anyone, it’s personal and intimate and unknowable at a certain level.
All I know is I have to keep putting one foot in front of the other
and try to find out
what words and photographs need to come out of me.

thinking about you…hoping the weekend provides some insight and peace.

The fact that you’re moving forward (one foot in front of the other) says so much. Sending good thoughts your way!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve felt like those very words you just typed. Sending a virtual hug and positive thoughts!

Thanks Genevieve and everyone else.

Ripples

I’ve been spending a lot of time in nature lately. I walk in the mornings either through a wooded park or at the Arboretum. I find my early morning walking is good for thinking things through. I sort through my to do list, or work on a troubling concern, or look at the light and enjoy how it falls.

Mr. Little and I take the girls with us on the weekends to the local gardens. We have several really beautiful, large public gardens here. And they never get too crowded, which is nice for an introvert like me:)

We had breakfast at Descanso Gardens this weekend. I am shooting holiday sessions this weekend and next and we spent about three hours hiking off the paved trails looking for inspiration and beautiful, golden, filtered light. This was taken right after we ate, while visiting the Japanese tea house.

Digging in the mud

I’ve lost my words lately because I’ve lost my bearings.
Drilling deep down to find what is true.
Style vs. vision.
My client called me an artist today and I wrinkled my nose.
I’m just digging in the mud.

it was a fortune to find it from Byw.

Amazing!

Good luck, a real one!

Hi from BYW! Just wanted to say how gorgeous your photographs are and how familiar this feeling is to me! I never know if it’s depressing or reassuring to know that others feel the same way… I don’t have any advice other than to keep taking pictures! xo

Thank you! No matter how unpleasant a feeling is, you know that someone out there is feeling the same thing. That’s what I love about connecting to so many people.
